Can Denmark make it with Sun & Wind?

It is often mentioned that Denmark can easily manage renewable energy in its own production. We
can compensate for the rest by importing from outside. But can we now do that too?

Denmark’s own electricity production

For the past 15 years, Denmark has reduced the fossil base load and is content with setting up
unstable weather sources in the form of solar farms and wind turbines. As a consequence,
Denmark’s total annual electricity production has fallen to be lower than the annual electricity
consumption during this period, as can be seen in Figure 1. below.

Thus, Denmark has had to increase imports of electricity to compensate.
